So it was a mellow Sunday afternoon and I had just sat down on the toilet with my daughter near by playing with her bath toys when I heard the dog rustling around. "Oh, Jon's home early" I thought to myself. Then I hear a voice: "Oh, I thought this place was vacant." Then louder: "Is anyone here?" When I first heard the voice I immediately pulled up my pants, grabbed my daughter and yelled "YES!" with an irritated tone in my voice.
First of all, the realtor instructions in the listing of our house says "CALL IN ADVANCE. DOG AT HOUSE - DOG MAY BITE" so hello!!!!! Read the freakin' instructions and call me!!! I got no call. She apologized but still, it was quite annoying.
So the realtor says "should we come back?" Since she had a buyer with her I decided to let them come in after I said that she should have called and then I had toys all over the living room, the kitchen was not cleaned up, laundry is laying on the bed, etc. "Oh, that's okay, we don't mind." ugh. whatever. The dog was jumping on them so I put him outside. They look around and the realtor seemed more interested in the place than the buyer.
As they are walking out I followed them to the door to tell them to feel free to look in the garage. And then I noticed the GATE WAS OPEN! You idiot! Of course they wouldn't close the gate behind them! Why would I have thought that? If you open a door, don't you close it behind you? Now the dog has been released and he's having a good old time chasing cats and squirrels with a chance of getting hit by a car. I freaked out! The realtor and buyer told me they'd help me find him. They got in the car and drove around the bend as I quickly gathered my daughter, my phone, dog leash and threw them all in the stroller and jammed across a grassy area in our complex toward the street to find my dog. I didn't care what those bitches were doing as long as I could find my dog. I screamed at the top of my lungs "CLYDE!!!! COME!!!!!" I know my whole neighborhood heard me. Luckily a neighbor was walking by and she said she had just seen him. After a minute or two of all of us yelling for the dog he comes running toward me like a happy little camper and I grabbed his collar and leashed him.
Thank you realtor lady for adding some adventure to my monotonous Sunday. I am most certain the dog had a blast!
I finally got my new frames yesterday! Usually when I need new frames, I go to one of those mall stores and it takes me quite some time and a few friends to figure out which ones to buy. This time I bought them at the Optometrists office. The people who work there actually help you buy frames that fit your face as opposed to the mall employee who will tell you clown glasses look good just so you'll get the heck out of the store. Anyway, between the eye guy, my husband and I, we quickly narrowed it down to two pairs. These were the winners.
What was the last wedding you went to? Were you in the wedding?
The last wedding I went to was mine. So yeah I was in it. We do have a wedding coming up in Hawaii, but I'm not going to be in that one. I've never been to Hawaii, so I'm excited about it.
Have you ever played matchmaker? How did it go?
I played matchmaker a few times. One went pretty well I think. I convinced one of the guys that I worked with that he should ask out one of the girls. She had a crush on him for awhile, and he was oblivious. They dated for a few years and then moved to Chicago. I don't know what happened after that. Heck, they could be married!
I've had friends ask me to set them up since then, but for some reason I never seem to know any single guys.
Who was your best (or worst) elementary school teacher?
Submitted by Minnow.
My best teacher also happened to be my worst teacher. We called her Miss Kathy. I don't recall the last name. She was my first grade teacher. She was really nice and patient. I was really excited when I found out she'd be my second grade teacher as well. Unfortunately it was a mixed class. Mostly first graders with maybe ten second graders. She pretty much ignored the second graders. We were forced to teach ourselves. It's really hard to teach yourself multiplication/division when your 7 years old. Some of the second graders were held back a year. I moved on to third grade, but struggled the whole way through.
What's the most famous movie you've never seen?
Submitted by Mike.
I've never seen Citizen Kane, the Graduate, or Schindlers List. I actually tried to watch Citizen Kane once, but quickly feel asleep. I've never attempted the other two. I wanted to see them, but never got around to it. Oh, I've never seen a Woody Allen movie. I'm sure there are many more out there I've never seen.
I can't believe I haven't posted anything since November! Crazy! Anyway, I wont go over all the wild and crazy things that have happened since then, even though there are some really great stories! Seriously! Like the hooker that came to thanksgiving dinner, or all the holiday parties... yeah, I'm just going to skip over all that and start with this last week which was pretty boring. I spent lots of hours at work. Luckily I'm hourly so lots of overtime for me! I did spend some quality time with my sister and my niece. I had a staring contest with her (the niece). I was just about to give up when she finally looked away. I didn't think she would be that good at it, since I didn't explain the rules and the fact that she's only two months old. She proved to be a formidable opponent.
Well, I need to be on my way. Maybe next time I'll write something interesting. It's bound to happen eventually.
Yesterday, I spent the day with my parents waiting as patiently as we could for my sister to have her baby. She finally had the baby just before noon. We were very excited to learn that "it" was a girl! A beautiful little girl! I'm very excited for my sister and her husband. I've never seen them look so happy. Congrats sis!
And of course, I'm excited to be an aunt! Technically, I have 5 nieces and nephews, but they were all over 10 when I met them (one of them is less than 5 years younger than me). So obviously I missed out on seeing how cute and wonderful they were as babies. But this when I get to know from scratch. This will give me plenty of time to spoiler her and become the cool aunt.
I do feel a bit sorry for my hubby. Just a tiny bit. If he thought I was bugging him about kids before, I'm afraid it's only going to get worse.
