Please tell me I'm not the only one who can't believe that Wendy's (yes, the fast food joint) is using a Violent Femmes song in their latest commercial. I'm rendered speechless almost every time I see it. Gah!
While in Austin, almost every business establishment I've been in has had really decent music playing. A friend and I were in a very cool little store on South Congress last night, and they had some rockin' tunes playing (wish I could remember some specifics). The place we went for lunch today was playing Mojave 3, and something else that was surprising in a good way. I want to say it was the Shins, but I'm not entirely sure (I was distracted by my coworkers trying to convince me to try banana egg rolls). Even the Chipotle where I had dinner tonight had good taste in music.
Yet another reason I feel it wouldn't be all that bad to spend more time here. Except for the fact that it's still humid and 80 degrees out at 9pm. In October.
Also, I think I'd have a hard time convincing the rest of my family that they'd want to live here too...
What's your musical horoscope? (Put your music player on shuffle and write down the first 10 songs that come up.) Inspired by Stephanie.
iTunes on shuffle on the G5 at work produced the following list:
1. Trailways - the Red House Painters
2. C'mere - Interpol
3. Broken Crown - All Girl Summer Fun Band
4. Labor Day - Snoozer
5. King of Carrot Flowers Part One - Neutral Milk Hotel
6. Wilderness - Sleater-Kinney
7. The Face That Launched 1000 Shits Ships - Death Cab For Cutie
8. Making Time - Creation
9. Papa Was a Rodeo - the Magnetic Fields
10. Pepita - Caliexico
Honestly,
I can't make head or tails of it horoscope wise. If this list was a
magic 8-ball, I think "Try Again Later" sums it up.
This morning I told my step-mom that Cyrus and I would go with my littlest brother and his friend to see DragonForce
in San Francisco next weekend. I'm not sure what I've gotten myself
into here, but it could prove to be very interesting. Hopefully in an
amusing way and not a "my ears are bleeding" sort of way.
